Hackesche Höfe Cinema
An unforgettable cinema experience that features outstanding film seasons, international productions and unconventional festivals
Cinema excitement with a special flair
The Hackesche Höfe Kino plays a prominent role in the city’s cinema landscape. Most of the films screened here are European, with a number of signal productions from every other continent. Documentaries are another focus and the special seasons are an expanding feature. The programme, outstanding for its artistic and conceptual qualities, is enhanced by well-structured series and full-fledged festivals.
This cinema has grown out of deep historical roots. One of the ballrooms in the Hackesche Höfe was converted into a cinema back in 1920. There are now five screens, but the new spatial arrangement remains respectful of the architecture. At weekends the standard programme is complemented by midnight specials and Sunday matinées.
