Hof 1

One of the leading watch brands in Germany

“This is how Berlin ticks”, says the slogan. Askania’s top-quality watches are made here in the city, fostering a tradition that dates back to 1871. The foundations were laid in Berlin by the inventor Carl Bamberg, the son of a watchmaker and a protégé of Carl Zeiss. He quickly established Askania as a market leader at a site not far from the Hackesche Höfe.

Askania built its reputation above all on state-of-the-art precision equipment for the navy, observatories, research labs and expeditions. The manufacture of quality watches resumed in Berlin in 2006. Askania is the only producer of mechanical premium-quality watches in the capital and is now one of Germany’s leading watch brands. Askania’s flagship store has a panoramic display of the art of watchmaking in Berlin, along with many stories from the pioneering days of aviation.
